Title: Something's Missing
Author: [info]k_laker

Fandom: the GazettE
Pairing: KaixUruha [very slight]
Rating: G
Warnings: Little kids. :3
Summary: "Kai took a side glance at Uruha, wondering what was up with the taller boy. It was just a room."
Notes: Short drabble. Been thinking of this for awhile now. 8Db

"Kaiiii~! Just open the door already!"

Looking behind his shoulder at the short blonde, seven-year-old Kai sighed in exasperation. Uruha had been begging him for weeks to sneak into Kai's older sister's room while she was away at work to rummage through her things. Whatever Uruha's fascination with his sister was, it wasn't a crush of any kind. To Kai, it seemed like his best friend was aspiring to be her.

"You know that you're not allowed to mess anything up right, Uruha?" Kai warned, pointing a slightly chubby finger in the boy's direction while his other hand was covering the door knob, unmoving.

"She'll never know that we've been in there." Uruha crossed his forefinger over the left side of his chest as if swearing by the small heart that lay beneath it.

"Are you sure you can actually do that?" Kai prodded, feeling skeptical of the other boy's display.

"I already crossed my heart didn't I?" The blonde defended, sticking out his tongue.

Rolling his eyes, Kai turned the knob and swung the white door open to reveal the sanctuary, or cave as he'd liked to call it, that belonged to his sister and no one else.

"Wooooow..." Uruha breathed, taking a few slow steps into the room, his eyes glossed over.

Kai's sister was the stereotypical girl. Her walls were painted in a soft pink, covered here and there with glow in the dark butterflies and stars, the bedspread made up of flowers and pastel designs while all other furniture sprung out in an alien white finish. Atop her dressers were perfumes, lotions, make-up, and figurines of kittens playing with yarn and toy mice. Even the light fixture hanging from the ceiling was in the shape of a fairy taking flight and sprinkled with heaps of glitter for added effect.

Kai took a side glance at Uruha, wondering what was up with the taller boy. It was just a room.

"Sooo, are you happy now? Can we leave?" It wasn't that Kai was afraid of getting caught, he just wanted to get back to playing the new edition of Tekken that he had gotten for Christmas.

Turning back to face Kai, Uruha smiled wide. "I want to look around."

"But what's there to look at!" Kai shouted, waving his arms around in exaggerated motions at the room around them.

"There's a closet," Uruha replied, smirking and suddenly, he was making a beeline for the large white and pink doors.

"You're not allowed in there!" But Kai knew it was no use. Uruha would do as he pleased.

Throwing the doors open, the blonde boy peered at the expanse of clothes that hung from the thick bar and the many boxes that sat on the bottom of the closet, neatly labeled and in perfect condition. Before Kai could even go to look over Uruha's shoulder, the taller boy had pulled out a box labeled, 'Age Six through Ten' and plopped it on the carpet in front of the bed.

"She'll know that you've gone through her things! Uruha! I'll get in so much trouble!" Kai's whines filled the air, but Uruha seemed deaf to him.

"Shhh.. I just want to look.." He said breathlessly, popping the lid off and scanning the contents.

Apparently, Kai's sister was very neat and organized for everything inside was all in order of dresses, half-used make-up, shoes, toys, and hair clips. There was one thing that Uruha had his eyes set on and it was the large box of plastic jewelry. As his hands reached for the box, Kai's hands were pulling them back.

"Stop." Kai commanded, breathing heavily. "We're not allowed to touch. We'll mess it up."

Looking up at Kai's flushed face, Uruha pouted, trying to pull his hands from the boy's iron-clad grasp.

"I told you that I'd make it look like we were never here," the blonde boy whispered quietly, sounding hurt. "You don't trust me?"

Uruha always knew how to make the short boy squirm, how to convince him into doing anything he wanted. Biting his lip, Kai debated as seriously as his seven-year-old mind could permit on the options and consequences of his friend's actions.

"You have to put everything back." Uruha rolled his eyes but Kai kept his ground. "Or we're not friends anymore."

The blonde's face contorted oddly as his lungs felt as if there was no air left to breathe.

Nodding at his own decision, Kai let go of Uruha's soft, long fingers and watched them carefully remove the jewelry box from the larger cardboard box.

-------------------------------------------

Soon, Uruha had managed to put on as many of the plastic rings as his fingers could possibly hold and the same went for his wrists, neck and ears, where the clip on earrings stood out starkly against his pale skin.

"How do I look?" Uruha asked, twirling around in front of Kai, who had sat himself down to watch in a sort of amazement as the tall boy had adorned himself with everything he could get his hands on.

Surveying Uruha's work with a critical gaze, Kai shook his head.

"What?" Uruha whined, his posture sinking as all the necklaces clacked together plastically.

"You're missing something." Kai stated simply.

"But I've put on everything Kai-kun!" Showing Kai the empty box, Uruha was sure to change his mind.

Without another word, Kai stood up and made his way over to the bigger box, searching the contents for a few quite moments as Uruha seated himself on the edge of his sister's bed.

"Close your eyes." Doing as he was told, the blond closed his almond eyes and waited patiently, still put off that he wasn't perfect in the first place.

Gently, Kai combed a few small fingers through Uruha's dyed locks and held it back with a silvery, jewel-studded, plastic comb tiara.

"Can I open them now?" Uruha whispered, unsure of what to do next.

"Not yet," Kai said, the noises of shuffling reaching the boy's ears since he couldn't see.

Returning with a small make-up kit, Kai proceeded to put a light coat of make-up on Uruha's eyes and cheeks.

"I didn't know that you could do make-up Kai. Who taught you?" Uruha mumbled, hands clasped in his lap.

Kai only shrugged to himself. "I see my sister doing it so often that it's easy enough to do. Don't move so much."

"Sorry."

Finishing off with a light sheen of lip gloss, Kai closed the half-used box of make-up and returned it to the box. Waiting patiently, Uruha waited until he could feel Kai in front of him before asking again.

"Can I open them?" He asked anxiously.

"Yep."

Holding up a mirror to Uruha's face, Kai smiled. Uruha looked like a very pretty boy.

"Wow~! That's so cool!" Uruha shrieked, ripping the mirror from Kai's grasp and inspecting his face for himself.

"But you're still missing something." Kai said knowingly.

Uruha's mouth opened in shock.

"What!? I already have a tiara, make-up, jewelry, and--" But Kai interrupted his tangent.

"You want to know what you're missing?" Kai asked softly, facing eye-to-eye with the sitting boy.

"What?" Uruha asked hotly, mouth twisted into a frown.

Leaning down, Kai pecked Uruha's pretty glossed lips.

"A prince."

Staring at Kai with a dazed, far-away look, Uruha was finally quiet.

"Anyways, I have to go to the bathroom. Start cleaning up, okay?"

Patting Uruha on the shoulder, Kai walked out of the room and into the hallway.

A smile spread over Uruha's smeared lips.

"So does that mean I'm a princess Kai?" He called, jumping up and chasing the other down the hallway, and slamming them both into the bathroom, the clacking sound of the cheap jewelry dangling from his body completely forgotten.

Aw, that was really cute! You just have to suspend your belief when it comes to a 7-year-old having dyed hair, haha. xD

This reminds me of a movie I just saw called Ma Vie en Rose, where two little boys pretend to get married.
